Charitable Purpose
To advance excellence in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery in Aotearoa New Zealand through leadership in education, training, research, professional standards, advocacy, and collaboration. NZSOHNS recognises the importance of improving equitable health outcomes, including for Māori and other priority populations.
NZSOHNS is committed to supporting clinicians, trainees, and the wider health workforce by fostering innovation, lifelong learning, collegiality, and the sharing of knowledge and expertise across the specialty. The Society seeks to improve equitable access to safe, high-quality care for all New Zealanders, strengthen health outcomes within our communities, and contribute positively to the development of sustainable and patient-centred health services.
Through partnership, integrity, stewardship, and service, NZSOHNS aims to strengthen the specialty, support its members throughout their professional journey, and uphold the highest standards of care for current and future generations.
1. To undertake activities consistent with charitable purposes that benefit the health and wellbeing of the public.
2. To advance the science and practice of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery in New Zealand and Overseas.
3. To promote and improve public health outcomes through education, training, research, and clinical excellence.
4. To support equitable access to high-quality Otolaryngology services, including for underserved populations.
5. To advance education and professional development of practitioners and trainees.
6. To promote, support, and disseminate research that improves patient outcomes and health system performance.
7. To provide advocacy, expert advice and leadership in health policy and service delivery.
8. To collaborate with national and international organisations to improve standards of care.
9. To administer and apply for funds for education, research, and initiatives that benefit the community.
10. To administer the Linsell Richards Education Foundation in accordance with the provisions regulated
