Patient Information
ENTinfoNZ
ENTinfo NZ provides free information about ear, nose and throat conditions and treatments. Created by ENT professionals and endorsed by NZSOHNS, it supports understanding alongside your own care.
To check a doctor’s registration and ability to practise in New Zealand, use the Medical Council register. Contact the doctor’s practice for appointments.
Language and communication support
Tell your practice if you need an interpreter or information in a different format, and ask about arrangements before your appointment.
The Health and Disability Commissioner provides patient rights information in different languages, including te reo Māori, and accessible formats such as Easy Read, large print, audio and NZSL.
International patient resources
Start with ENTinfo NZ for local information. These additional resources are maintained by overseas ENT societies. Referral pathways, medicines and treatment arrangements may differ from those in New Zealand; discuss questions with your own clinician.
ASOHNS patient information (Australia) — an introduction to ENT subspecialties and links to the Society’s published resources.
ENT UK conditions and procedures leaflets (United Kingdom) — browse ear, nose, throat, head and neck, children’s and Easy Read information.
ENThealth patient resources (United States) — the American Academy’s patient information website.
AHNS head and neck cancer patient guide (United States) — information for patients and families on diagnosis, treatment, recovery and survivorship. Its overseas specialist directory does not replace New Zealand care arrangements.
ASOHNS, ENT UK and ENThealth links checked 11 October 2026; AHNS patient guide checked 12 October 2026. These links support understanding and do not replace individual medical advice.
