Position descriptions:
OTOLOGY - The fellowship is tailored towards a subspecialty interest in Otology. In particular there is an emphasis on Neuro-otology with cochlear implantation, tertiary otology and skull base experience.
HEAD & NECK - all aspects of benign and malignant cases with local and regional flap repairs. Free flap reconstructions are performed by our plastic surgery colleagues.
There is a mix of fully supervised practice and independent “Junior Consultant” style practice.
The successful candidates also participate in the after-hours Registrar call or if required (and suitably qualified) they may participate in the SMO on-call roster.
A focus on research can be accommodated and there is an emphasis on teaching Medical Students and Junior Doctors.
Funded: Yes, Each position commences in July every year
To be eligible for this Fellowship, candidates must
a) have successfully completed training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery; and
b) have English language skills sufficient to pass the IELTS English language test; and
c) be eligible for medical registration in New Zealand.
